Born in London, Emma Gould’s interior design career began in the early 1990s where she worked with some of Britain’s best interior designers, including Colefax and Fowler, David Laws and Ina Lindemann Design.

Learning from these role models Emma honed her skills and along with her natural abilities was able to set up her own Interior Design business in London. Her individual and stylish approach attracted fashionistas and young celebrities from the music industry as her clients.

Our Story

Emma immigrated to New Zealand in 2001 and soon realised her new hometown Queenstown was ready for her chic and glamorous style – the resort town was being eyed up by developers wanting to invest in the area as well as attracting an influx of domestic and off-shore private home owners. Emma saw the need for a Queenstown interior designer who offered a high level of sophistication.

Led by Emma’s 25 year’s industry experience, White Interiors was established and today it comprises of a small yet energetic and highly dedicated team, designing throughout New Zealand and overseas.

Our Clients

Our clients come from both New Zealand and around the world.

Many are based off-shore, building New Zealand homes. Others are business owners wanting their commercial enterprise to stand out and make an impression.

“Emma and her team at White Interiors are a dream to work with and we can’t recommend them highly enough.”

“We have been most impressed by the results and regard Emma as a professional with few peers in this area”

“Our brief was to incorporate a passion for mid-century design into a modernist home that suited its Central Otago environment. Emma and her team worked seamlessly with the international architects and local builders and has without any doubt helped us see our vision through.”

“The time difference, not to mention the 12,000 miles between us, was never an issue and everything required has been handled in an efficient, timely and always delightful manner.”

"Emma interpreted the updated art deco style we were looking for, spot on, found fabrics and furnishings that were style appropriate and yet worked with our feng shui led colour scheme”

“As well as newly commissioned/sourced furnishings, Emma also worked seamlessly on incorporating our own belongings to produce a home that we feel thoroughly comfortable and at home in”

“White Interiors worked fluidly with the other members of the development team – from the architect to the builder to the other suppliers ensuring that all the details in the house were optimal”

“While based in London, we engaged White Interiors to design, select order and equip everything in the interior of our home in Wanaka, New Zealand. That’s everything from sofas to saltshakers; paint colours to paintings”

“The reason we engaged Emma was, very simple, the fact that she listened. In this she stood apart from the other designers to whom we’d spoken. She didn’t impose her own taste, the standard off-the-shelf ideas or the prevailing style. Instead she worked with our brief and our existing furniture, making suggestions that would help integrate what we had into our new home and broaden our thinking where that was desirable”

“The options Emma offered invariably worked in with what most suited us and we were as a result able to make our decisions in a way that was efficient, cost effective, and in the end appropriate for our lifestyle and environment.”

Our Style

We design for the client, first and foremost.

The home is their statement and for their comfort and ease of living. We will guide the client in creating their unique interior by providing them with our knowledge and our creativity.

Being based in the beautiful Queenstown region, it is impossible not to be inspired by the dramatic landscapes and purity that abounds New Zealand.

As well as nature, inspiration comes from passion and for Emma, her loves are 1920’s and 30’s Art Deco, fashion, art and travel. Her personal style is sophisticated chic with a hint of glamour.

We aim to design interiors that will stand the test of time, both in style and workmanship. Fashions provide inspiration, but true great design defies time and retains its appeal over many years.
